In recent years, there has been an attempt to develop approaches that will help to increase the number of people with severe disabilities who can access supported employment services and to improve the quality of jobs they are able to obtain through these services; these new approaches are called naturally supported employment.  This guide provides supported employees, their families, and professionals with a basic description of naturally supported employment approaches. 

The three major sections are:

• Brief descriptions of the approaches involved in career planning, job search, consulting with coworkers, and creative and flexible funding
• The outline of a tool that can be used by supported employees to assess the quality of supports provided to them
• List of other materials that may be helpful to supported employees, families, and professionals in using naturally supported employment approaches.
