This booklet examines options or choices that individuals with disabilities or families can make today under current regulations and laws in order to achieve self-determination. It explores both the requirements that must be met and the organizational mechanisms that might prove to be good choices.  The purpose is to call for a recognition of the options that extend beyond current service delivery methods and to challenge the assumption that the sterile solution of managed care is the only or the preferred next step in this vital support system.
